Graduated from the University of South Florida in Mass Communication and Broadcasting. Carlos started his advertising career with WINK in Fort Myers, Florida. He began writing the script as an associate producer, but eventually became a full-time reporter.

Granda got a job as a reporter and occasional presenter at WLTV in Miami in 1985. During his television career, Carlos toured New York on the centennial of the Statue of Liberty, recounting Queen Elizabeth’s visit to the Bahamas and the Delta flight accident in Dallas. In 1987, Granda moved to WPLG in Miami.

Also, Granda was the first reporter to arrive on the scene to report the World Trade Center bombing. He also reported on the events that took place when Hurricane Andrew hit Miami and New Orleans. He was hired by WNBC New York as a New Jersey correspondent in 1993. He then returned to Miami in 1995 as a MC for CBS affiliate WFOR.
