Cathy Jay is an American film director. She is best known for directing her 2016 documentary, The Red Pill, about the men’s rights movement. In 2008 she founded the film production company Jaye Bird Productions.
Jay directed and produced her 2010 documentary film, Daddy I Do, which covers sex education and sexual abstinence programs in the United States. Daddy I Do features interviews with Silver Ring Thing inventor Denny Pattin, feminist authors Amanda Marcotte and Douglas Kirby. The film also includes the personal experiences of women who have experienced teenage pregnancy, single parenthood, abortion, and sexual abuse.
In 2012, Jay directed and produced The Right to Love. “An American Family,” her second major documentary. This video follows a family known as “Gay Family Values” based on California Proposition 8 (2008) on YouTube.
The film premiered at the Castro Theater in San Francisco, California in February 2012 with guest speaker Zach Walls. This picture was later screened at the Frameline Film Festival.
