Polanco began her career working in the healthcare industry with the intention of becoming a nurse. She began working in hospital administration at Montefiore Medical Center back in the Bronx while still working studying nursing while pursueing her acting career and got registered herself with an acting studio.
She enrolled at BIH Studios in New York where she got signed by the talent agency Shirley Grant Management. She had her first acting roles with minor parts in the television series named Unforgettable and NYC 22.
