Emily Maitlis a British-Canadian journalist, documentary-maker, and news presenter for the BBC. She is known for presenting BBC Two’s news and current affairs program Newsnight, and also covers elections for the BBC in the UK, US, and Europe.

Originally, Maitlis intended to work as a producer, motivated by her passion for theater, but then went on to report for radio. She was a documentary maker in Cambodia and China before reporting on television.
