Jemal was hired by the Indianapolis Colts in 2016 as a running backs coach under head coach. In his two seasons assisting Frank Gore in Indianapolis, Jermall ranked ninth in the NFL in rushing with 1,986 yards. Gore had nearly 1,000 yards rushing in 2017, ranking 12th in the NFL with 961 yards receiving.

Jermar led Gore to his ninth 1,000-yard season in 2016, becoming the first running back since John Riggins in 1984 to catch 33 or more rushing yards. He also became the first Colts rusher to rush for at least 1,000 yards. yards since RB Joseph Addai in 2007.
