Ben-Adir startd off his acting career in the theatre. One of his first roles back in 2011 having performed in Gillian Slovo’s critically acclaimed sell-out play The Riots at the Tricycle Theatre. Back in 2012, he featured as Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

He as well featured as Borachio in Mark Rylance’s production of Much Ado About Nothing at the Old Vic in London in 2013, as well as in God’s Property at the Soho Theatre.

 
Back in 2014, he performed at the Bush Theatre in London, in the play known as We Are Proud to Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, well Known as Southwest Africa, From the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884–1915.

He as well featured in Adam Smith’s British crime drama Trespass Against Us, as Sir Tristan “Wet Stick” in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. He as well featured in Vera and The OA, amongst many others.
