Marcel is an American Chef & Owner of WOLF restaurant in Melrose Ave and Beefsteak which were both closed in February 2019. At the Age 25 years, he competed in a TV cooking show, “Top Chef” season two which aired from 2006 to 2007 where he became the runner-up.

Marcel trained under renowned personalities like Michelin Star and James Beard Award-winning chefs Joël Robuchon, Michael Mina, and Jose Andres. In addition, his cooking style and passion is in molecular gastronomy, and he mentors young chefs.

He began by appearing on TV shows like“Top Chef” where he became famous for his molecular gastronomy. He contested for The Next Iron Chef. Later, became the Executive Sous Chef of Company American Bistro, before moving to Los Angeles to become Executive Sous Chef at The Bazaar by José Andrés.

Marcel is married to Lauren Rae Levy. The couple tied knot in 2019 , have a son named Kingston.
“I think I cry once a day while looking at him because I am just that grateful,” Lauren Rae Levy Vigneron tells PEOPLE of her newborn .

“Kingston was a name we both just loved,” Lauren tells PEOPLE of her and the Top Chef alum’s inspiration behind their son’s moniker, which they chose from a “top eight” list the couple created before Kingston was born. “We wanted something unique and strong that would flow with Levy Vigneron. As I am the only ‘Levy,’ I wanted to carry the name on for my father, and Marcel was happy to honor that.”
“So we knew Levy Vigneron would be the middle/last name, and that we were ideally looking for something with one or two syllables to flow with it since Vigneron is a long last name,” the entrepreneur continues.

They didn’t name their baby boy until they met him, though — or even right afterward, as “the day that he was born, I was so delirious from surgery that we waited till the following day to spend time with him and see which name truly suited him, that we both loved equally,” Lauren explains.

“When we added the name Kingston to our list, I was hesitant to give someone in our home other than my husband the title of ‘King,’ ” she says. “Then I thought about it and realized that from day one, Marcel has called me his ‘Empress.’ I realized that if I was his empress, it would make him the emperor, which is above the king, making him the leading man in our home.”

Marcel attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in New York where he studied and achieved his bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts. In addition , he got a Bachelors’s Degree in Hospitality Management from the same institution. Marcel met his fellow chef Spike Mendelsohn here, and they became friends. Later, they competed together on the 5th season of “The Next Iron Chef”
