Michael Landsberg Biography
Michael Elliott Landsberg is a Canadian sports journalist and former host of TSN, First Up with Landsberg and Colaiacovo. Before that, Landsberg hosted TSN’s “Off the Record” with Michael Landsberg from 1997 to 2015. He was previously a spokesperson for Let’s Talk and founder of the charity #SickNotWeak.
Landsberg was born and raised in Canada. He received his degree from Forest Hills College. Elliott began his national career in 1984 as an announcer for TSN SportsDesk. There, he aired more than 5,000 episodes before joining TSN’s 30-minute show. Michael hosted the daily sports talk show The Record on TSN 30 from 1997 to 2015. The program has become one of Canada’s longest-running talk shows and one of Canada’s most bankable music events.
Previously, Micheal hosted Naylor & Landsberg in the mornings on TSN 1050 and co-hosted TSN’s First Up with former Toronto Maple Leafs player Carlo Colaiacovo. Throughout her career, Landsberg has covered major sporting events, including the figure skating competition at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and CTV’s daytime Olympic programs during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He also hosted TSN’s Olympic daytime show at the 2012 London Olympics.
Landsberg has been nominated twice for the Gemini Best Play Award for his work. He will be leaving TSN in July 2021. Outside of work, Michael serves as a spokesperson for Bell Let’s Talk, an initiative to raise awareness about mental health, and is the founder of #SickNotWeak, a mental health charity. The foundation serves as both a place and a community for people with mental illness and those who want to support their loved ones.
He has also received many awards, including being awarded the Order of Merit for Mental Health Advocacy by the Governor General of Canada at the Rideau Hall ceremony in 2017. In his spare time, Landsberg enjoys working out at the gym four times a week, skiing, sailing, and coaching his son’s hockey team.
