Nikola was selected with the tenth overall pick by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the second round of the 2019 CFL Draft. On May 17, 2019, Nikola signed a contract with the team. Nikolai was called up to the team after training camp and played his first game on June 13, 2019 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. On June 22, 2019, Nikola made his first start against Jeremiah Masoli in the second game against the Toronto Argonauts. 31-yard pass for his first career CFL touchdown. Overall, Nikola played in 16 regular season games for the Tiger-Cats in 2019, catching passes for 106 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Nichola did not play in the 2020 CFL season due to the cancellation of the 2020 CFL season. Nikola appeared in all 14 regular season games and had 11 receptions for 86 yards and 1 touchdown on eight special teams tackles in 2021. Nikola was scheduled to become a free agent in 2022, but was released early so that he could sign with an NFL team on January 22, 2022, and sign with the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL).

On August 30, 2022, Nikola was waived and placed on the practice squad the next day. Nikolai was promoted on December 13 and waived on May 4, 2023.
