O’Donnell joined KING in Seattle working as the weekend morning meteorologist as well as her concurrent duties for Northwest Cable News two years later. She earned the AMS Seal of Approval in 1997and served until 2000. Back in 2001, she joined KNTV, the NBC affiliate for the San Francisco Bay Area. As of 2003-2006, she as well reported the weather for Early Today and was a weather substitute for MSNBC.

She later announced that she was leaving KNTV to join her husband, who had already got to their hometown of Seattle to joined and later graduate school in 2007.

Back in December 2007, she got back to KING/NWCN as the weeknight 10 pm anchor and as a meteorologist. She as well laid off from KING 5 after massive cuts at that station, such as her position on sister station KONG 6/16, and returned to KOMO 4 as a freelance weekend weather anchor in February 2009. She later served as the weekend weather anchor at KOMO 4 in August 2009. She currently now the chief meteorologist at KOMO 4.
