Sherry Pie (Joey Gugliemelli) an American drag performer known as a contestant on season 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
She shared how she got her drag name saying; I got my drag name “Sherry Pie” by sitting in a costume shop one very dark and lonely evening and I was throwing around drag names and I wanted something a little bit punny and a little bit funny, something that was a little vintage and so “Sherry” was the most popular name in the 1950s and so Sherry and then I like food, so “Pie”, Sherry Pie, here we are today kids.”

“My mom is very supportive. She always has been. She sent me to the New York State Theatre Institute. She’s given me the tools to be successful. My mom is a very no-bullshit kind of a person and she always tells me if she didn’t think I could be successful at what I’m doing she would say something.”

Sherry Pie Drag Career
Pie started doing drag while she was not in school during the summer, they penned these little minstrel shows that could be done in the street. She featured as the woman and she loved the laughs that she got. She got in production of Hairspray as Edna play a role that Divine originated in film and Harvey Fierstein originated on Broadway was the most amazing experience for me,” she said.
Pie does a weekly show on Monday’s at REBAR in Chelsea called Marquee Monday’s. In that show, they take a Broadway musical every week and ” we kind of gay it up and bastardize it. It’s an audience interactive show. It is not a show for the faint of heart,” Sherry explained.
