In October 2012, after a video parodying Barack Obama’s campaign went viral after being published in the American Observer magazine, Steven’s YouTube channel became more popular and he began uploading videos regularly. “Keeping Up with Crowder” was purchased by “Blaze Media” website Watch and turned into a daily program. The program is currently airing on CRTV.
In June 2019, YouTube investigated Crowder’s use of racist and homophobic slurs in several videos directed at Carlos Maza in response to Maza’s Vox series “Deleted.” Claude called Maza “Sir”. Claude criticized Maza in a mostly gay voice. Additionally, Mazza said Crowder’s fans were smearing and harassing him. However, Steven defended himself and said it was just a “joke”.
