He gradually noticed that the people on television seemed to know what was going to happen in the near future, which affected his desire to become a meteorologist. Following that, he started monitoring the news to see what the weather would be like, which piqued his interest in broadcasting.
He graduated from the University of Kansas with a Minor in Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science. He helped develop a weather section for KUJH-TV, a student-run television station, while at university. In addition, he had the opportunity to do and fill in forecasts for a hyper-local cable network that serviced Lawrence and the surrounding minor towns.
Following graduation, he relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he worked for an ABC-affiliated television station, KLKN, for two and a half years. He worked as both a reporter and a meteorologist. During his time here, he witnessed some severe weather, including the March 2019 flooding and one of the snowiest winters on record, which he documented firsthand. He enjoys reading and going for runs when he is not working. He can also be spotted working out at the gym or exploring Kentucky.
