Anthony Farnell Biography

Anthony Farnell is a Canadian meteorologist who currently serves as chief meteorologist at the Toronto News of the World. He developed a love for the weather at a young age. He remembers spending most of his time in elementary school looking out the window at the changing clouds. This is something that vents your love.

One of the main events that fueled his love for weather was the Ice Storm of the Century in 1998. Anthony continued his passion and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Lyndon State University in 2003. After graduation, he began his broadcasting career at KPAX in Missoula, Montana. There he worked as a morning weather forecaster.

He returned to Montreal in late 2005 and worked briefly at weather derivatives company Bellator Energy. He joined Global Montreal’s evening news that same year, but soon left for Global Toronto in 2006. There he became a meteorologist and reported many big stories.

He is also a long-time supporter of Michael Gallen Hospital. He helps many local organizations, including the Canadian Muscular Dystrophy Association, among others. He has been Minister of Change and Change for over a decade. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, cycling and skiing.
