Brandi Cummings Career
Cummings is an award-winning journalist who anchors KCRA 3 News on Saturday and Sunday evenings. In April 2018, she began working for KCRA as a general assignment reporter. In Northern California, she has covered everything from storms to snow. Brandi has published numerous articles on COVID-19 funding, analysis, and vaccine equity. On a regular basis, she provides members of our community with a forum to speak out on important issues.
Before joining KCRA, Brandi worked at WAVY/WVBT in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was the station’s only weekend evening anchor. Throughout the week, she worked as a general assignment columnist as well as an award-winning investigative reporter. Before joining WAVY, Brandi worked as a morning anchor at WTOC in Savannah, Georgia. Before moving to Savannah, Brandi worked as a reporter/anchor at WIS in Columbia, South Carolina. She began her career as a producer at WRDW in her hometown of Augusta, Georgia, where she grew up.
Brandi has received many nominations, including those from the Virginia Associated Press and the South Carolina Associated Press. She has also received the National Association of Black Journalists Salute to Excellence Award. Brandi’s reports have given her the opportunity to interview a number of famous figures, including former President Barack Obama. Brandi was featured on the Summer 2011 cover of Midlands Woman Magazine, in addition to a lengthy list of milestones, features, and mentions.
She is a founding member of The First Tee of Savannah’s Board of Directors. Brandi is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and the San Francisco/Northern California Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. In 2010, Brandi realized a lifetime dream of creating a program for children. She supervised the introduction of the “Loving Me Seminar” for adolescent girls that she produced in both Columbia, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia. Her first poetry collection, “Straight to the Heart: Life & Love,” was self-published in August 2010.

Brandi Cummings Education
Brandi enrolled and later earned a Master’s Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Lasell College. While there she served as a full-time and graduated with a 3.95 GPA back in August 2014. She earned honors from Clark Atlanta University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Media Arts. Back on May 22, 2013, she earned her alma mater honored her as a “Clark Atlanta University Alum for a Day.”
