Andrew was a member of the choral ensemble Anuna from 2007to 2012. While in Trinity, he became involved with the Trinity Orchestra and in 2014 he released Illumination, singing la chanson de Madri Gras and was the soloist. Byrne has toured together with the group internationally.

Also, he performed in a pop and rock festival known as Oxegen Festival in 2009 and 2010. Andrew released his EP Take Me to Church the track title was a blues-gospel song with a lyric, finding solace in a lover that was released in September.

The video was directed by Brendan Canty. It was an illustration of anti-gay violence in Russia. Take Me to Church went viral on all social media platforms when Stephen fry shared it in Reddit. It achieved global success, scoring the top five positions around the world and gaining multi-platinum certifications.

In 2014 Bryne released his second EP titled: From Eden. One of the tracks, “Cherry Wine”, appeared in Zach Braff’s movie “Wish I Was Here”, chosen for its “heartbreaking lyrics and poetry”. He released his self titled album Hozier on 19 September 2014 it featured five singles, including Take Me to Church, Someone New, Work song and from Eden. In November 2019 Bryne released his new song titled Jackboot jump.
