Joe Pera is an American stand-up comedian, author, and actor. He is best known for being the creator and star of his Joe Pera Talks with You for Adult Swim.

Pera created the adult swimming infomercial “Joe Talks You to Sleep”. In it, Pera is known for his slow-paced, “grandfather-like” performances and his love of wearing sweaters. This was followed by him appearing in Late Night with Seth Meyers, and another Adult Swim special, “Pella Helps Find the Perfect Christmas Tree.” Following the success of these programs (all produced by Chestnut Walnut, the company he and Conor O’Malley founded), Pera developed the TV series Joe Talks With You for Adult Swim, which will be released in 2018. First broadcast on May 20th. On March 28, 2017, he appeared on the talk show Conan, and on December 4, 2019, he appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

In 2021, Joe will publish a toilet book illustrated by Joe Bennett for people who don’t poop or pee but use the toilet as an escape route. Joe and Chestnut Walnut released his Drifting Off With Joe on January 31, 2023, a podcast designed to help people sleep. It reminds me of his “Talks You To Sleep” series. Episodes are produced on the first Sunday of each month and feature guest interviews, guest musicians, and philosophical monologues on specific topics. Joe spoke briefly on EHFM’s radio show ‘No Dancing’ on March 3, 2023, reflecting on his slow movements, giving his own take, and showing off the music he was making. He makes his first appearance at the age of 31.
