Karen debuted as Katana in the DC Comics blockbuster film Suicide Squad 2016. The film, which was released in August 2016, was written and directed by David Ayer. Karen trained for almost two months during pre-production, despite having previous martial arts training, to learn how to wield a sword correctly.
She began her entertainment business career as a Movie Surfers host in middle school. Before acting, she was a translator, subtitle editor, and waitress at a reggae-themed sushi restaurant.
She debuted as Katana in the DC Comics superhero film Suicide Squad 2016. She announced in early December 2016 that she had finished the first week of filming for Stray with Miyavi, Christine Woods, and Ross Partridge. She played the characters Sewer Queen and Alexis in the Cartoon Network series Craig of the Creek.
