Le’Andria Delores Johnson an American gospel musician and songwriter, well known for being the winner of BET’s “Sunday Best” singing competition show. She as well recorded popular songs such as The Experience, Bigger than me, Jesus, Christmas Best, and Its Gonna Be Alright.

Le’andria was exposed to music at a very tender age. Already at the age of two, She had begun singing in her father’s church, HQ Ministries in Altamonte Springs, Florida. This made room for her to nurture her music talent. Le’andria became a performer, producer, singer, and songwriter as a result of hard work and dedication. Her big break came at age seventeen when she sang in front of an audience of 8,000 at Pastor Shirley Caesar’s annual conference. The gospel star recalls this as her first big platform.
When an opportunity presented itself at BET’s Sunday Best show, Le’andria pushed by her friend auditioned to be part of the show and luckily she got admitted. Afterward, her career in music has never remained the same, today she is one of the most popular gospel artists in the US.

As part of her win, Johnson won a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, a national recording contract, and a cash prize courtesy of Degree Nature Effects. she went on to release singles like “I Shall Leap Into My Destiny,” in August 2011 topped Billboard’s Gospel chart. Her brother Terrence co-wrote many of her songs including “I Shall Leap Into My Destiny.”

Le’Andria recently shared in an interview her longtime struggle with substance abuse. She told the audience that she was freed from alcohol after spending 30 days behind bars. The singer was happy to announce that as part of the healing process, she was wearing a government-issued ankle bracelet.
Known for being extremely transparent with her fans, she never hid the fact that she drank and was proficient in profanity. While some continued to support her, it became clear to many that she was in need of an intervention.

Despite the show’s focus on liberal theologies all of the preachers have, at some point on the show, She expressed disdain for the impractical and oppressive regimes of contemporary American churches Johnson has been a standout in her non-traditional techniques of ministering and pastoring.
For starters, she is a woman and pastor; women’s leadership is still incredibly controversial in the church. Johnson does not believe in the traditional liturgical techniques of the black church or formal attire. She has also been known to pass out cigarettes and condoms to people in the inner-city neighborhoods of Atlanta. This move has been quite controversial among her fellow preacher friends on the reality show.
According to Le’Andria, “although we do not condone it, some people are going to smoke or have sex anyway, in which case we want them to be safe. Many people will not have a conversation about God, the Bible, or spirituality. When we say we try to “meet them where they are,” this is to simply start a conversation, share testimonies, and minister the gospel of Jesus.

Johnson started IPC (Imperfect People Changing) Ministries in Atlanta, Georgia. Their first service was held on June 16, 2013. On New Year’s Eve 2014, Johnson and IPC Ministries held an outdoor concert bringing food, clothing, praise, and worship to the streets of Atlanta.
The concert was a huge success, which motivated Johnson to establish progress, an outreach initiative that gives back to those less fortunate in the city of Atlanta. progress distributes, food, clothing, bibles, and in-kind gifts once a month, outside the homeless shelter at Peachtree and Pine Street. Le’Andria had accepted her call into the ministry and would be the new Pastor of IPC Ministries in Hapeville, GA. Just a hop skip and jump from downtown Atlanta.
The preacher’s daughter followed in her father’s footsteps by preaching her first sermon. Those in attendance said she sure can preach. Johnson’s mother and father Bishop Gregory Johnson and first lady Pastor Sharon Johnson, were in attendance to support their daughter.
