Mackenyu Arata a Japanese actor know for his role Wataya Arata in the Chihayafuru live-action trilogy in 2016 tha earned him the 40th Japan Academy of the Year Award back in 2017. He is as well known for portraying Enishi Yukishiro in Rurouni Kenshin Saishusho: The Final.

Mackenyu joined Beverly Hill High School in their Advanced Placement Program. He thereafter featured in a few film and TV shows while growing up, such as the TV mini-series Team Astro and the Japanese feature film Oyaji. While young he was eager to learn as many things as possible.
At the age of seven, he learned horseback riding and Yabusame. He as well practiced Kyokushin Karate from 8 years old and was placed third at the US Kyokushin Karate Nationals in middle school.

He co-starred along with the actor (late Haruma Miura) in the movie adaptation of Gunjo Senki. While at 16 in 2014, he had his first feature film lead role in Take a Chance. He thereafter to pursued acting in Japan, stating that Japan would be the best place for him due to the variety of roles available for young and upcoming actors.
He featured in films like Kiss That Kills, Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018), Rurouni Kenshin, and a number of others other films. Back in 2021, he starred as the lead in the manga adaptation of Brave: Gunjou Senki. Back in November the same year, he featured as Roronoa Zoro in One Piece. He a well also featured as Scar in Fullmetal Alchemist in March 2022.
