Julien Michel Friedman is a German writer, former CDU politician and talk show host. Friedmann served as Vice-President of the Central Council of German Jews from 2000 to 2003 and President of the European Jewish Congress from 2001 to 2003.

He had his own show on German television from 1998 to 2003. He has hosted the weekly program “Studio Friedman” on N24 since 2004. Friedman is a lawyer by profession and studied law and philosophy.

After being called to the bar in 1988, Friedman became a partner in an international law firm specializing in finance and media. Today he is a professor of real estate and media law. Michel was president of the European Jewish Congress (EJC) from 2000 to 2003. His career on television started with the interview “Vorsicht”! Friedman (See! Friedman) from the public broadcaster Hessischer Rundfunk in 1998.

He has been presenting the program “Studio Friedmann” on the German Welt channel since 2004. His talk show “Aufein Wort” premiered on Deutsche Welle in 2017. After World War II, his family opened a fur shop in Paris. In 1965 the family returned to Germany and settled in Frankfurt am Main.

Friedman began studying medicine but later turned to law. He graduated from law school in 1988 and received his J.D. in 1994. He has a brother in Israel.
