Sherri Jackson an American Emmy Award winning News Anchor, a veteran journalist and Reporter working as a news anchor for CBS 42 in Birmingham, Alabama. She also worked for WGXA-TV in Macon, GA, WSAV-TV in Savannah GA, and WSAZ-TV in Charleston and Huntington West Virginia. She is as well a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Radio Television Digital News Association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Sherri has done exemplary work as a journalist reporting on children and social media so families can be smart about smart devices, informing parents about sexual predators, fighting the war on cancer with information, and shining a spotlight on long overdue honors for those who’ve given their all to make our community what it is today.
Named “Best News Anchor” in Alabama five times by the Alabama Broadcasters Association, Sherri continues to excel as a journalist and as a weekday Anchor for CBS 42 News at 5, 6 & 10 o’clock.
Sherri has received recognition for her work covering AIDS in the city of Birmingham. Her piece “AIDS from Alabama to Africa” received a national award from the National Association of Black Journalists. As a reporter she is dedicated to telling the stories that touch people’s lives in a series of special reports called “Faith in Action.” The series launched after Sherri took a mission trip to Arusha, Tanzania and split from her mission team to cover the story of a missionary doctor in Bomet, Kenya who says she was miraculously healed after testing positive for HIV. The story of what happened at Tenwek Hospital became Sherri’s first Faith in Action story in 2007.
Family drives Sherri’s passion to give back to the community. That’s why much of Sherri’s community involvement centers on supporting agencies that support families. She has served on several boards with non-profit organizations that serve women and children. Those include The Foundry Ministries, UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, Lawson State Community College Foundation, Children’s Aid Society, Childcare Resources, and Red Cross Blood Services.
Sherri is proud of the work she does at CB2 42 that impacts the lives of people in our community. She has worked on several special reports at CBS 42 that have received journalism awards. She is most proud of the 2014 EMMY award for “Hope and Honor: A tribute to four girls.” The documentary follows the sculptor Elizabeth MacQueen’s making of the “Four Spirits” monument in Birmingham’s Kelly Ingram Park.
Prior to making her home in Birmingham in 1998, she worked for WGXA-TV in Macon, GA, WSAV-TV in Savannah GA, and WSAZ-TV in Charleston and Huntington West Virginia. The graduate of Morehead State University in Morehead, KY is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Radio Television Digital News Association and of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
