University of Kentucky student Sophia Nicole Rosing was caught on video while intoxicated and cursing another student. She is accused of using the N-word more than 200 times when she assaulted Kyla Spring, a student receptionist at Boyd Hall Dormitory. In the video, Spring said:

“She fell down drunk and she just tried to sit me down.” “It’s not my fault you’re black,” she added. “It’s not my fault you’re ugly,” she added. “You are ugly and black.” She is also accused of assaulting the police officer who arrested her. When police arrived, Ms. Spring added, “The girl tried to bite and kick the officer several times, but they weren’t able to get much information out of her.”

Sophia did not have her ID and refused to present it, so she was charged as Jane Doe in Fayette County Jail. After she was found to be intoxicated, she was arrested and charged with public intoxication, assault, assaulting a police officer and disorderly conduct. Rosing Jr. and Algie attended Sophia’s arraignment, which Sophia followed through a video link. She pleaded not guilty to all charges and was released after her parents posted $10,000 bail.

Her bail conditions forbid her from contacting Spring, returning to Boyd Hall, and drinking alcohol. She could lose even more if the university expels her.
