Minor spent ten years as the Volusia County bureau chief at WKMG-TV , Local 6 , in Orlando , where he was responsible for covering news in 16 cities on a daily basis .
Minor has vast live shooting expertise as well as anchoring skills , having presented news footage to both a local and national audience . But in 2006 , while covering a trial in St. Augustine , he met Melanie Lawson , and his life changed forever . Lawson , who hosts WJXT’s “The Morning Show ,” and Tarik started dating , fell in love , and married in the fall of 2009 . They currently collaborate in the same office .
Minor owns a video production company and hopes to make a documentary in the future . His journalistic career began as a production assistant at NBC 4 in Washington , D.C . He began his career as a reporter in Alexandria , Louisiana , and later went to Baton Rouge before settling in Florida .
