Reason began his career back in 1990 and on his first year at Seven News he unwittingly aired a segment now infamously known as the Democracy Manifest video, that was an Internet viral video years later. Back in 2002, he announced as co-host of the re-launched national breakfast program Sunrise together with Melissa Doyle.
Back in September, Reason got diagnosed with cancer he retired from the program undrgoing six months of chemotherapy, surgery, and as well recovery care and he got replaced by David Koch. Back in 2013, he recovered and ad multiple roles—first as presenter of Seven Morning News, and then presenter of Sunday Sunrise in 2004.
Back in 2005, he got to be named as the co-host of Weekend Sunrise along with Lisa Wilkinson, but he got replaced by Deal or No Deal host Andrew O’Keefe. He got back working as a full-time reporting as Senior Network Correspondent. While working at Seven News, he as well covered the Boxing Day tsunami in Thailand and then Banda Aceh; the Fukushima nuclear disaster; Barack Obama’s election; Nelson Mandela’s funeral; the September 11 attacks; the 7/7 London terror attacks; the East Timor independence transition in 1999; Princess Diana’s funeral, and Schapelle Corby’s sentencing.
