Her parents are known pillars and founders of the Bangladeshi community in Victoria, Australia.

She shared about her mother in an Instagram post: “My mum, Laila, came here as a young 19 year old student and since called Melbourne her home. She taught us how to eat seasonally, grow and preserve our own produce and adapted many of the dishes she grew up eating to the local fresh ingredients we find here in Victoria.”
