After there he worked as an Asia correspondent from 1997 to 2003 in Hong Kong . He became the first reporter for BBC World News one-hour Washington-based news broadcast , BBC World News America , supported by correspondent Katty Kay .
He currently works for Channel 4 News and has covered events in Ukraine from the crash site of Malaysia flight MH17 to the tensions in Crimea and reported live from Independence Square on Kiev’s bloodiest day . He has secured major interviews with Bill Clinton , George W Bush , and Aung San Suu Kyi .
