Shahadi Wright Joseph is a famous American child actor, singer and dancer. Shahadi is best known for his role in Jordan Peele’s 2019 horror film Us, and for voicing a young Nala in the 2019 remake of The Lion King.
Shahadi’s first big acting role came at age nine when she was cast as young Nala in The Lion King on Broadway. Joseph was a member of the original cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock. She even appeared on Hairspray Live! upon. She starred as Inez Stubbs in 2016. On November 1, 2017, Joseph was selected to reprise the role of young Nala in the 2019 Jon Favreau remake of The Lion King. She chose to work on this film because she thought this character would be an inspirational role model for young girls.
She explained that when she learned that Beyoncé would be voicing an adult Nala, it made Joseph try harder and figure out how Beyoncé would approach the role. Joseph read three times before she was offered the dual roles of Zhora and Umbrae in the horror film Us (2019).
