Ty Burrell Biography

Ty Burrell is an American actor and comedian, known for his role as Phil Dunphy on ABC’s Modern Family. This role earned her the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Actress. Tay even won four consecutive MPAA Awards for Best Actor in 2013 for his role on Modern Family.

He also gained further recognition and fame after appearing in off-Broadway shows such as “McVess” and “Burn This.” Burrell’s other notable roles include “Out of Practice”, “Chasing in the Valley”, “Rough Night” and “Back to You”.

Burrell was born and raised in Grants Pass, Oregon, the son of a school teacher. He is also the eldest son of a family with two children. So Ty has a little brother. He later attended and graduated from Hidden Valley High School in Grand Pass. Burrell later attended the University of Oregon and worked as a bartender at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival to pay the bills.

Ty first entered show business in 2001, appearing in a movie called “Evolution” and another thriller called “Black Hawk Down”. In 2004, he starred in the remake of Dawn of the Dead. This is also the period when he played his famous Broadway roles in “Macbeth,” “Burn This” and another off-Broadway movie, “The Blue Devil.”

Burrell began his first major assignment as a prosecutor with the Law and Order Special Victims Unit in New Jersey. He then starred in Out of Practice until 2009.
