After starting his career in his native Liberia, he spent 14 years playing for clubs in France, Italy and England. Arsene Wenger brought him to Europe for the first time and he transferred to Monaco in 1988.

Weah transferred to Paris Saint-Germain in 1992, where he won the Ligue 1 championship in 1994 and became a basketball player who played in the UEFA Champions League in 1994-95.

He joined AC Milan in 1995, where he spent four consecutive seasons, winning Serie A twice. At the end of his career he moved to the Premier League and played for Chelsea and Manchester City, winning the FA Cup with the former team and returning to France to play for Marseille in 2001.
